MODERN HOUSE DESIGN

MODERN CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE
In relation to architecture and design, the terms "Modern" and "Contemporary" are often used interchangeably and essentially refer to the same design aesthetics.
Projects that incorporate Modern design elements typically display some of the following characteristics: clean lines, simplicity of form, fresh colour palettes, de-cluttered spaces, maximized storage capabilities, vaulted or higher than average ceilings, elegant and simple interior and exterior lighting, and a willingness to experiment. This willingness is seen in Modern design's ability to stretch beyond the typical; it pushes the boundaries of ordinary by playing with bold and unique designs.
Modern design also puts a lot of emphasis on a building's functionality; this is seen in the use of concealed storage, clean, uncluttered living spaces, clever building layouts, and potentially the incorporation of sustainable living products.
Contemporary architecture is in essence the present period's new ideas. Modern architecture deconstructs Western traditional structure and is characterized by the simplification of form. It does not necessarily follow convention or symmetry - rather, it concentrates on clean lines. It is original, highly personalized and has a sense of play.
Modern Contemporary architecture is often fuelled by a frustration with familiarity. This form of architecture seeks to push the boundaries of normal, implementing innovative materials, technological advances and ground-breaking design elements. These houses balance Modern construction design and habitability; they must ensure that the project is both unique aesthetically, while still completely functional and able to be lived in. The result is often a novel and unique product; admired by some, unappreciated by others.
The roots of Modern architecture can be traced back early into the 20th Century and has been popular with several of the world's most influential architects. Today, Modern design is growing in popularity, with many leading architects and designers incorporating its characteristics into their works. Modern residential architecture is still popular today and the Okanagan is no exception.
